Who can receive drug and alcohol assessments?
Anyone, ages 13 and up, with concerns regarding drug or alcohol use, can receive a drug and alcohol assessments. Assessments are available Monday through Friday (by appointment only) specifically for:
Adolescents (ages 13-18)
Pregnant, Parenting, or IV drug using Adults (receive priority in scheduling)
And, Individuals in jail

Who is involved in outpatient counseling and treatment?
For adolescents and most adults, outpatient counseling and treatment is family centered. We understand that substance use can impact an individual, as well as members of their family. What type of inpatient treatment options are available?
Stepping Stones does not offer inpatient treatment options, but after receiving a drug an alcohol assessment, if a patient needs inpatient services we can refer them with options that are best for them.
Do you offer youth substance abuse services?
Yes! And, we understand the importance of early intervention, especially for youth, and can perform an alcohol and drug evaluation for your adolescent (ages 13-18) and create a treatment plan that works for your family. Click here to read more about youth substance abuse.
What treatment options do you have for people who have work-related drug and alcohol needs?
Safety-sensitive Education and Counseling is a group program for individuals who hold a commercial driver's license (CDL), have received a DOT violation due to a positive drug test, and have been evaluated and referred for additional services by a SAP. Safety-sensitive function is defined as being from the time a driver begins to work or is required to be in readiness to work until the time he/she is relieved from work and all responsibility for performing that work. Stepping Stones has licensed SAPs available to perform the evaluations and will work get you scheduled as quickly as possible. What personal services can you offer, outside of drug and alcohol counseling?
Stepping Stones can assist individuals and families between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday with emergency food, clothing, personal hygiene products, diapers and wipes for children, bus passes, and advocacy/referrals for additional community services and resources. We also offer food support by providing individuals with monthly food packages thanks to a partnership with the Food Bank of Lincoln and Stepping Stones. How do I pay for services?
Stepping Stones accepts a variety of Insurance plans and offers a sliding fee scale. Insurance plans accepted are subject to change and we seek to add more as we are able. If your plan is not listed, please call first to confirm: Midlands Choice, Medica, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, Medicaid, Optum - UnitedHealthcare, Nebraska Total Care, Wellcare of Nebraska. We are proud to be featured on the State of Nebraska Judicial Branch’s Registered Service Providers list.
What options do you have for financial services?
We offer a sliding fee scale for alcohol and drug evaluations, and substance abuse outpatient counseling services. You will need to complete a form to determine your ability to pay. For more information, call 402-327-6822.
